Default Built Engine, MORE BOOST!

We're already quite comfortable pushing about 9.2 turbocharged psi of boost through a stock 3.6 Pentastar with impressive results (427 rwhp, 417 rwtq, 12.76s 1/4 mile, 4.24s 0-60). But how much more can you get out of a Pentastar if you rebuild it with some stronger internals?

We're working on getting an answer to that question

These wastegate springs should give us about 22 psi boost:

This engine is special, so we made it pretty:

Stay tuned for more!

We worked with Diamond Pistons to develop forged pistons for the Pentastar.

Available for purchase on our website: https://prodigyperformance.com/produ...-pro-5036.html

(also available for the 3.8: https://prodigyperformance.com/produ...-pro-5038.html)

We have engine block guards to stabilize the cylinders.

Available for purchase on our website: https://prodigyperformance.com/produ...ock-guard.html

More to come...

Are you reducing compression with the pistons?

Rods: Yes. I'm working on posting pictures now
Cams: No.
Custom VVT cam tuning: Pending.

We're retaining stock compression ratio to maintain good power when off boost. Tuning will take care of avoiding detonation.

We worked with Carrillo to develop forged connecting rods for the 3.6 V6 Pentastar.

NOTE: Stock rods are reported to be forged as well. And they appear to be fracture-split. Not bad. Just not quite as beefy as we want

Here's some side-by-side comparisons between stock and Carrillo:

I'm really interested to see how this turns out, as well as a ballpark cost to upgrade the internals.

I don't know squat about the 3.6 as to boost but fooled a lot with grand national buicks years ago and the weak link wasn't pistons or rods. When pushed to over 20psi the biggest problem was head gaskets. Most guys running over 20 had there blocks and heads cut for o ring head gaskets. That and alcohol injection was mandatory.

We're using ARP head studs to avoid head gasket issues.

If that's not enough, then we'll find out soon enough
