That's what I get for finally asking a straight question with no smart a$$ comments. I almost took her this time. She is in trouble as soon as I heal up.

Well, that is a tough one to answer. I have several thoughts on beefing it up alittle. Plus adding on a few things, brush guard, front skid, etc. but the main reason for the front pic. without the plastic is I want to see how the bumper looks before it is cut down and what it will take to ether keep the crush cans or just cover where they were. It's just a hole lot of thinking before I do anything. I have a lot of back ground in fabing steel, welding, and sheet metal, so I will just see what I can do. It will be a fun project even if I don't like the finished bumper. ( I can always sell it to some youngster that has bad taste.) I don't know if I answered your question or not, but once I get a picture I can see what needs to be done and I can start putting some real thought into. Now go rip your plastic off your JK and take a bunch of pics. of front side under over. etc.

Sorry dont have pics, but have had the plastic off. The metal bumper left behind is ugly and thin. Need to just make a new one. I am thinking about 2"X6" square tube and weld it in a configuration like shockworks of even Warn. Flat plate on top, cut holes for stock lights, etc. Maybe add winch later, either inside or on top. The Jeep forum has a lot of bumpers that were made for the older jeeps.

This is about the best pic I have of it. I took the plastic off for our club run to Superlift in April so I wouldn't smash it all up.

No modifications were done to the steel at all, just removed the plastic.

Thank you fulcrum. Nice jeep., You could have at least washed it for me first.

Looks like a person could make a bumper to fit.

What thickness 2x6 are you using? 300lbs is excessive. 5 feet of 2x6x1/4" shouldn't weight maybe 60-70 lbs. Add 80 lbs for a winch, or 100 if you go w/ the Warn with a compressor. You mean your winch plate weighs nearly 150 lbs???!!!

Here is my homemade bumper.
Cost about $95.00 not including lights.
License plate can be removed via 2 inch receiver and a portable winch can be added.
Used factory hooks.
Tow bar brackets welded inside of hooks.
Metal skid plate.
