Bumper Discussion
On the list of mods we are making happen soonest are the bumpers.
Big fan of the looks of the Fab Fours, not so big a fan of the price tag.
I like the looks of the Rugged Ridge modular front bumper (and the price). Another feature of the RR is that I can easily change out and remove parts as needed (end caps off for greater freedom of movement, add the Stinger when needed, keep the hoop for daily driving).
With that said, does anyone have experience with the RR? Am I off my rocker thinking I am changing out parts as easily as I may think they come off?
What about the rear bumper with the tire carrier? goods / bads? Does it rattle alot?
Thanks for the help.

I have been thinking about bumpers for a long time and really can't decide between AEV and Shrockworks stubby. Kinda leaning toward Shrockworks. But I don't like the idea of switching out bumper parts. I think owning one of these vehicle and using it the way it can be is expence and maintence enough just to keep it tuned right. My advise - cut up and play with your stock bumper to find out what you like and then buy the right one for you and get years of service.
I bought the Rugged Ridge last week and will be putting on my Jeep this weekend. I've moved the foglights over to the RR and mounted the winch. I'll put the ends on once it's in place.
Build and finish seem to be pretty solid. End caps would come on/off easily, but swapping a stinger might be a bit of a pain since it bolts on where the bumper mounts to the frame horns. Just guessing though.
I don't like that the hoop doesn't have light mounts but I understand they designed it to face in or face out at the owner's discretion and light mounts would spoil that flexibility. I've held off on buying the hoop for now for that reason as I intend to put a couple lights on the bumper and just need to figure out the best way to do so.
If you do buy the Rugged Ridge, shop around. Prices vary widely, and the places that have the center section cheap aren't necessarily the places that have the other parts cheap.

I don't care for RR products. The whole bolted on parts just doesn't sit well with me. My opinion.... if you are keeping full flares go mid width or full. If you are gonna chop for stubby. The type of wheeling also matters.... for rocks I would run a stubby. Most importantly LOOKS.... get what YOU like.
The XHD winch mount center section weighs about 48lb not counting the d-ring mounts or end caps. Stock foglight bumper w/o fogs but with hooks is about 37lb. These according to a 50lb fish scale.
What are you going to do with the weight figure?

Only really noticeable if I look for it or measure it. Currently thinking I'll put in a 1 3/4 coil spacer in front and 3/4 in back for the time being.
