Default Bumpers Stubby, Midwidth or Fullwidth

What are the disadvantages of using a stubby or midwidth rear
and a midwidth front over going full size??

Sorry if this is a stupid ? but I felt it was important to ask.

I live in Michigan where snow always builds up on the corners so
this may be good (at least in the back)

Of course I realize there is less protection for certain angles of a collision
with the smaller bumpers.

Is there more I am missing?

Come on guys, seriously no advice?

Is there any reason I should go full size front and rear

vs using mid or stubbys?

Some states have laws about the bumper length and coverage; so check that out too. Coverage like you said is the main thing though. It is up and down with advantages. Less bumper means less protection, but also means less restriction as far as clearance goes; such as going up a steep grade or rock from an angle. You don't want a full width bumper for that if you don't have the clearance for the approach. Does that help?

You might also want a shorter bumper if you are going to replace the stock fenders with slim ones.

Stubby -- better clearance, less weight, just big enough to accommodate a winch; a couple lights.

Mid width -- if you don't want your entire tires showing, but don't want the full length either. Looks in my opinion; no significant purpose really.

Full length -- heavy, but much more protection all around from tire to tire.

Really it should be stubby vs. full length. In the end it comes down to your preference and wheeling habits.

I personally am stubby all the way. But that's also because I don't have bigger tires or a major lift that can provide the clearance w/ a full length.
