Default Bumpstop maxing on one side only?

In the passenger rear of my jeep the rear bumpstop seemed to be maxing out and hitting over even the smallest bumps. The left rear was perfectly fine but the rear right always did. I looked and both coils and shocks are sitting well. I am thinking it could be a bad shock on the rear right? Im confused those as i only have about 17,000 miles on the shocks. Does that seem like a reasonable thought?

Thanks,

Maertz

You could always swap the shocks and see if the problem follows to the other side.

Take the shock off and test it. Inspect it to see if rebounds correctly. It could be dead.

x2,,,, i have seen brand new shocks,, right out of the box, bathed in oil that leaked out prior to delivery. In my opinion, just the nature of how a shock works means that every shock produced wont work as it should. Let us know what the final solution is!

The gas tank is on the passenger side. A full tank puts some extra weight on that corner.

I agree that the shock should be checked. If the spring is good, then its the shock's job to keep the spring from bottoming out on every bump. Do you get a lot of spring rebound after the spring bottoms out? Controlling rebound is also up to the shock.

Not yet I am awaiting a new rear shock to get in to see if that was it. There sending me one for free after emailing them. They also assumed that's what it would be. I also thought about the gas tank but its like what 75 pounds? Not sure if that's enough.. I mean it does bottom out in the rear right with me in driver seat and a 220 pound person in the driver rear. The left still does not wich you would think would with 400 pounds on the left
