Question CAI Your Opinion

I was wonder in whats everyone's opinion on manufacturers to use for cold air intakes. I see them range from $60 - $300. What are you jeepers using? Did you notice any difference?

I'm intersted in opinions as well on this. I took some heat over the K&N I bought for my TJ several years back. Most people I talked to seem to despise them and sure that I would receive engine damage after prolonged use (because the did not filter as well).

Any opinions on this last statement?

I've had AirAid on my PowerStroke(s) and now this Jeep. I'm a believer. People had the same concerns in a Turbo Diesel that it wouldn't filter out some particles and hense would damage the splines on the turbo. It was bunk... I know of various individuals that actually removed their turbo to find out. I've also repeatedly checked my intake tube for any dust/dirt/particles and it's always been fine.

I don't know how much fine dust finds its way into the engine compartment but I used K&N's on my Banshee and if I didn't have filterwears or prefilters on they would pass quite a bit of fine sand. I could pull the filter and there was a fine layer in the intake tube. Obviously, on the exposed filters on my atv it is going to come into contact with a lot more dust than in a jeep engine. I had to clean my filters after every trip out. There was a noticable increase in power on my atv with the filters but I did rebuild them every year or two, also.

I have a drop in K&N in my Dodge truck and don't seem to get any pass through, however, I don't take it offroad.

No question whatsoever: AIRAID works as advertised, and you'll notice a "seat of the pants" difference immediately after the install. You'll get a slight increase in fuel economy too, which is a nice little plus, and to top if off, your engine will have a bit more of a snarl than stock... couldn't be happier with my AIRAID (unless it was a supercharger for the same $$$!)

Not me - when I had my JK into the dealership for my oil change after adding my AIRAID, the service tech and I were looking over the damage I did to my skid plates, and he remarked that I did a great job for a "bone stock Jeep." I can't imaging he missed the big friggin AIRAID sticker inside the CAI housing, so I'm going to assume that he was fine with the CAI...

Now, if you were having engine troubles, it may be another story entirely... but the burden of proof is on them if they claim that your mods caused damage...
