Default Caliper problem

Driving down the road today I had a bad pull to the right. When I finally had a chance to pull over, I had the burning brakes smell and some smoke coming from the front passenger side caliper. I let things cool off and made my way home with less pull to the right. When things cooled down, I jacked up the front passenger side and pulled the tire. The rotor would spin without much effort. I had a friend pump the brakes and the rotor would only stop when the brakes were applied. My guess is the caliper is on its way out and not completely frozen up yet. I don't think the brake hose is bad. I put hawk pads in less than a year ago as well. If the pads are shot on the passenger side as well, can I just replace the pads on that side or do I need to do the driver side as well? The pads looked ok on the passenger side but I didn't pull them off yet so I'm hoping they are ok. Any caliper brand I should go with or just the typical parts store brand? I will be doing both front calipers if this is the culprit on the passenger side. As always, any info is very much appreciated.

You may want to check the sliding pin/bolts on the calipers. May just be one or both of those hanging up. If so, you can work them loose, clean and lube and you may be good to go.

55K and a second caliper replacement for me last week. I've never done my own brake work but at this rate I think I better learn to.

It happened to me and it was the piston in the caliper that seized up. Just replace your caliper....although your rotor my need to be replaced now too

Rear passenger caliper for me last week. Smoke was coming out from the wheel well.

160,000 km so whatever.
