can i keep my d44's?
My opinion is you can keep your D44s and make them stronger to handle what you do. Keep in mind that anything can break and will break. It is all a matter of how much skinny pedal you use and how you drive. As mentioned before i would suggest using the money toward sleeving, gusseting and a truss on the front. Also a truss on the rear. Change the axles over to RCVs or Nitro chomoly shafts and chromoly shafts in the rear.
If you are really wanting to make them stronger. For 4Gs you could do all of the above and run ARBs with 35 spline shafts front and rear. These are the same spline as what the D60s are running but you are saving 6 to 8Gs.
Im running 38s with steel wheels and the below pic shows what is going under my Jk. It is sleeved, Gusseted and trussed. i also replaced the both upper CA bushings with a Johnny Joints.

Terraflex 3.5" x .25" tube, Dynatrac 3" x .5" tube, I vote dynatrac even though Dynatrac is a couple hundred more, ya get what ya pay for.
