Default Caster setting for 35's and 2.5" lift?

'09 JKU

Just wondering what others are using for caster?

Bad case of death wobble. Caster is set at factory-ish setting - diff is at 1.7 degrees (pinion up) so I believe that is 4.3 degrees? Tried to research it and I get 4.5, 6, 8 degrees...

Track bar is new and torqued. Toe is at zero-ish did it in the driveway. Need to bring it to alignment shop but dw is so bad right now cant drive far.

Thanks!

First off, caster isn't the root cause of your wobble. You likely have some crapped out BJs would be my guess.

Caster isn't an exact science, more a wide range of "acceptable" with a balance between as much caster as you can run while avoiding additional stress on your driveshaft (driveline vibes). Part of the reason you might see such a wide array of what people are running is that some have aftermarket axles with additional caster built in. On your factory axle you should be perfectly fine up above 4°, with some opting to target more in the 5-5.5° range.

Improper alignment can cause Death Wobble but make sure you don't have any worn or damaged componets as mentioned by Resharp. Ball Joints, Drag Link, Track Bar Mounts, etc.

I'm sitting on a 3.5in Rancho lift with adjustable control arms and Tom Woods drive shafts. My pinion angle is +1 degree leaving my caster at 5. You can only have 6 degrees total between the two points. I could bring my pinion up to +2 and have my caster at 4 degrees but the Jeep drives great and I have zero vibs from the front end even at 75-80mph.

If your pinion is 1.7 that means your caster is 4.3 as you mentioned, that's pretty dang close to factory spec.

I will go to my grave telling you that improper alignment will not cause DW. We can have differing opinions on that one. Loose bolts, bad joints, that is that.
