I have the portable midland and love it. But I do have an external antenna.

Right above the rear view mirror works great for me. That piece of plastic is very stout. I just used two bolts with washers and nuts to hold the cb bracket to the plastic trim piece. Been up there for over a year now with no issues.

I had the Smittybilt overhead GEAR console, and I folded the MOLLE canvas bag holder halfway, then mounted the CB there. Looks good and it's out of the way, and I still can use half of the holder for a few gear bags

That the cobra 29 cb, I've heard it was too big to fit up there or something along those lines

This is where I put mine I was going to put it above the rearview mirror but would fit due to length.

This is where I put mine. Had it for over a year and not once have I hit my leg. I figured it would happen once in a while.
