Default Change limited slip to locker

I have a '07 Wrangler X that came equiped with a limited slip rear diff. I am considering adding a locker to the rear and perhaps the Mopar Dana 44 with locker to the front. My question.

Can the rear limited slip be changed out to a locker without modifiying the housing or other parts?

It ain't quite that easy. The Powertrax unit I believe is made for an open differential carrier. He'll need to get the open carrier for the D44 and then it will work.

If he does that, he may as well go with a "full carrier" traction devise.

Powertrax makes a version of their No-Slip lunch box locker to go in LS versions of the D44 but who knows if it will fit the track lok in the JK.

from what i've heard and read going with a non selectable locker will be a nightmare in the rear. If you aren't planning on regearing i would buy the mopar d44 axles and be done with it.

No arguement from me. If I do anything, it's gonna be detroit locker all the way.

You are assuming that he currently has 4.1 gearing. If he doesn't he would have to regear the front anyway.

Well, if that's the case, he is in the ball park of a custom front D44 which would be better than the Mopar front D44. (the 2 mopar cost 2800)

I don't know where you are looking but i sure would like to know where you have found a custom jk dana 44 front axle for 2800. The cheapest thing i have found is through currie and its still running around 4000.
