BEST thing ever done to the JK can't believe I suffered through a year with the 3.21's. Absolutely no comparison. I haven't used 6th gear in a long time and 5th occasionally. Now I use them all. Very happy with the swap.
How's your gas mileage now? I have a 6spd with 35" KM2's and can't decide on 4.88's or 5.13's. It's my daily driver and every other weekend maybe hitting the trails.

I have an auto with 35's and recently regeared to 5.13's. I am currently getting about 15-16 on the highway (might be better as I was in a lot of traffic and not using my cruise...was still breaking in). Prior to the regear, I was getting 12-13 max. The bonus is your Jeep will have more power in daily driving.

Not sure about 5.38s with 35's and a Dana 30 axle...I was told by my install guy that 5.13 was as deep as I could go.
Enjoy!

I really don't know. Just had it done and my mpg readout isn't correct anyway as I have never bought a programing unit to correct for the tire size. Not real sure what is was before or after. I have one on the way now though.

And thanks to Goeagles88 for recommending his instal guy!

Another question... I'm preparing to place an order for the new gears. Question is do I have to change the front gears when I change the rear gears...

I guess theoretically no you don't...but you would effectively make your vehicle a 2wd vehicle. You would NEVER be able to use 4wd. Pony up and get both done. I'm not even sure a reputable shop would even do just one axle. If you are trying to save money, i would recommend waiting. Mine was $1200 total. Expensive, but worth it.

Goeagles88... Thanks for the reply! I wasn't sure if both needed done or not.. I'm not sure what my shop is going to charge me yet, but if I can get put at anything around $1200 I'll be happy!

Are you in Canada? U.S?
I had mine done 2 weeks ago Yukon 5.13's you'd be damn lucky finding someone to do both for $1200 .... Most guys report on other threads closer to $1500 and up
