Default Check engine light on. Code PO455

For the past month or so every time I fill up, gas spills out when the tank is full. The gas handle is not clicking off. So I started it up the other day and notice my jeep was idling rough. Then the next mourning the check engine light came. Went to have the code read and it said PO455. Which I think is a evap leak. My question is, do these to things have anything in common?

I had the over fill problem. Sucked really bad. Dealer did the work for free under warrantee . Think it was something in the fuel inlet or whatever you wanna call it

Cool. I talked to the dealer and he said that the check engine light is from my fuel tank problem. Just wanted to see what other people thought.

I had that issue on my last state inspection and it was a bad gas cap. They did a pressure test on the cap itself, so it can be a variety of things. Sorry not much help.

I just stop it when the needle gets to the "F". Called the dealer and they said it wouldn't be covered, so I told them to pound sand.

Good possibility of this. I didn't want to buy a new gas cap since mine is keyed to the Jeep (factory option--one of the nice things about ordering instead of lot buying). Mine was continuing on and off for about a year, along with an occasional P0456 (gross leak). Finally someone on the forum suggested using a bit of Vaseline around the gas cap O-ring. I did and haven't seen the problem since. Been about six months now.

Not sure what years are covered, but I have a letter from Chrysler for my 2007 extending the warranty to lifetime for the fuel fill spit-back problem.

Edit: Here ...
