Default Choices...

So my wife has decided to take over my Jeep... I have a couple of choices; let her have it and get my own JK (maybe a 2012), the problem with this is we need a second vehicle that is bigger for the ole Cost-ko trips. Second, tell her who's the man of the house and get her something else like a Durango or a GC.

I really like my JKU but it would be nice to get a 2012...

Either way, I am going to have a JK, so that brings up my next point.

I'm pretty much leaning toward a 4" short arm system. maybe either Teraflex or Rancho. I want something more than a basic lift but i'm not going to drop stupid money on it.

I am going to keep my factory 17" (maybe black powder coat them) and get 35's.

and of course get new gears.

I met a dude in Moab last year with basically that set up (with the trac loc) and he no issues. I'm not a hard core rock crawler so i think this will suite me fine.

I wont be home until the end of January so i got time to think about this for a while.

any thoughts, input, pics, DEALS? (Tereaflex Rancho)...

god, I hope SC gets their programmer done by then.

A grand has the same room as a JKU. Just bigger engine and not as customizable/offroadable.

Chrysler seems proud of the Durango and seem to want too much $$ for them.

I'd get a 2012 JKU and call it good. The aftermarket will catch up.

Get a JKU and drop the back seat for the extra space. I only have one kid so I can leave the smaller side of the back seat up and drop the larger of the 2 sections for extra space.

I came from a 2002 GC and while i thought the JKU would be the same cargo, it's not... not smaller by much but a little...
I agree, buying a GC for the sake of more space isn't logical.

I'd like to get a 2012 but then we would be "those people" with two JK's

With two kids we do ok on our shopping trips, and as long as you know how to pack the rear (what?) you can get a lot in it.

I guess I'll have to see what deals are going down come the end of Jan but i'd like to have my lift kit waiting for me when i get home...

And yeah, Dodge thinks their Durangos are gold but then again, what other 7 seater can you get for around $30k. Obviously the deals are going to dictate the decision.

Still in the air as to the manufacturer of the lift.

Ok. Why would the wife try to take over your jeep? Isn't it yours? Have her get a new car or something.

we both vowed to never buy a mini van... She loves the wrangler and always wanted one.

When it was time to buy HER car a couple years ago, we got a 2008 VW Beetle... obviously with two kids now that car is more useless than ever...

I'm not opposed to getting another JKU, I just don't want her to change her mind in a year or so.

I should just buy her a Dodge Ram.. and make her like it. lol

That will work itself out, i am more interested in the mods I will be doing to it (current or new JK)...
