Default Choosing a locker, all input welcome!

Hi everyone,
I've got a 2008 JKX with a manual trans and I'm looking to regear to 4.56 sometime in the future. With the D30 up front, I've read I need a new carrier and figured while the shop is down there, why not put in some lockers? I've ruled out air lockers, I don't want the little room I have taken up by OBA, or something simple breaking, plus they're just expensive and I don't have that cash. I've been thinking about an OX locker or maybe a Detroit.

I've heard that a manual trans can be a PITA with Detroit lockers, does anyone have experience with this?
Should I even bother locking the front? (I don't do what I would call any hardcore wheeling, think weekend warrior)
Does anybody have experience with Detroit or OX lockers?
Would a Detroit locker be hard on any other stock parts in a D44/30 or cause anything to fail prematurely?

I don't drive my jk like a sports car or gas it in corners, but I also don't want to be thrown sideways with a Detroit. I know I want the rear locked, but I'm not sure I see the point in a front locker. If it matters, I have 35's on my stock D30 and I would like to remain one of the guys that hasn't broken a D30 axle.

Thanks again guys and gals.

Also, if anyone knows a good shop anywhere in Va, throw out their name!

Just grab a pair of Truetracs and be done with it.

Summitracing.com
Front d30 - 912A585 - $390
Rear d44 - 913A589 - $415

And before you say "ewwww, that's a limited, not a locker..." do a search and read the reviews...

There's a reason I said all input welcome. I was considering this for the front anyways, I'm not going to throw it out without considering it. Can you explain why you think this would be better in the rear than a Detroit or OX? I want to make an educated purchase, and the LSD isn't something I'm extremely knowledgeable on.

I have a 12 JK 2dr with manual trans. And I went with true trac in the Dana 30 and the a Yukon Grizzly in the Dana 44 and 4:88 gears(going to 37") been running this for 2 years now.

The front you do not even know it is there in the front in 2wd and when you go 4wd you have traction in the front.

And with the grizzly in the rear the odd time you hear a bang but it's common with lockers and the tire chirping a little bit around corners if you have to give it gas And I drive year round in the snow and everything with my 35" and never had a problem with it being uncontrollable.

I'm assuming the Yukon grizzly is a Detroit style locker? (I really don't know much about them yet if you couldn't tell).

They are exactly like a Detroit but cheaper and Yukon has a warrenty that if it breaks they cover up to so much money do repair your diff. I have been running it for 2 year now and no problems my buddy has them in is trail rig that is running 42" and one tons for 3 years now and not a single issue

Interesting. I'd still like to know more about the LSD but it seems like a Detroit style locker is good for us low on funds. Do Detroit lockers put extra stress on axle shafts or anything else over time?

Just about everyone I know that has put in a full locker in their d30 has seen it break in some fashion. Usually its the gears exploding or a shaft snapping in half. Haven't heard any issues with LSD but I don;t know many people who have installed one in the front.

The locals around me live by ZIP lockers. From what i understand they are based on ARB's previous selectable locker, but improved. They seem to be good for the pricing. They also come with warranty and such.
