Clutch replacement
My throw out bearing recently seized, rendering my jeep undriveable. A mechanic friend recommended that if I have to pull the transmission anyway, I should go ahead and replace the clutch too (it has 80,000 miles on it, '07). I've read on here that the stock replacement isn't the way to go, that I should upgrade. What is everyone's experience/opinion? It's about a $200 difference. Thanks in advance everyone!
I get the price difference..I wouldn't want to spend more than I have to either. I do however agree with your mechanic friend and would upgrade while I was at it. I'm thinking centerforce when I have to replace mine (hopefully far down the road). Getting at the clutch or any of the clutch components for that matter involves alot of labor. I replaced the clutch in my mazda pickup last year at home and it was a job..and I didn't have a transfer case to deal with! Do it right this time and hopefully not have to deal with again for a long time.
