Default Coast 1310 question...possible issue.

So I was out the other weekend wheeling and I happened to notice that I had pulled the rubber portion of the front driveshaft up over the splines...I guess that's what they're called. I tried the best i could to slide it back to the original position and I think i got it there. I just noticed that I'm now slinging grease out from around it....did I "F" it up? can I replace just that boot? here's a pic

I can't draw a circle around it, but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. I may be able to push it just a hair more forward (to the left of the picture) If a differnt picture is needed, let me know and I'll take another.

Thanks for the help!

on my front coast shaft i got a slip on cover from a drive line shop and put it over the splines. it helps keep out the junk and hold in the grease. i also spot welded the stupid plug at the bottom that lets out all the grease. this cost me about a hour of time and 5 bucks for the cover. have not had a problem with it since.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of it you could show would you? I just don't want to have to keep greasing my drive shaft every week. Could get annoying after a while.

no picture but it looks just like yours with a ribbed driveshaft boot over the splines. i use zip ties to secure it and has lasted for six months so far and no need to add grease yet.
