I live in Seattle, where as you probably know, we get a ton of rain. At least half the year I'm driving through standing water, large puddles, etc around town and on the freeways. In fact, I usually blast through large puddles sending water up onto and over the hood just for fun.

So what we're saying here, is not only should I not get a CAI, but I should be more cautious with my JK driving through significant puddles and wet conditions even with the stock box??? I just assumed my JK was tough enough to survive water with the exception of water crossings.

Should I be doing some simple mods to my stock box?

If fact, I don't remember the last time I drove on dry pavement up here in Seattle!
i live in florida and i have a K&N CAI and i PLOW through puddles and it goes well over my hood or whole jeep intirely. i have checked the filter several times and its always dry. in a jk with stock air box there is nothing to worry about. with CAI i would be a little more cautious but like i said ive never had a problem with puddles and my K&N.

The JK engine bay is more "open" than a TJ intake. But I went through mud bogs and deep water with my XJ and my home made CAI. No problems here.

I'll try to get some this Sunday as I need to clean my filter and such.

I like mine, you can really tell a difference IMO I am stock right now so I can feel a difference from stock power. It is even more noticable if you have an exhaust or at the very least a muffler. I took my 6 foot long stock muffler off in favor of the thrush and it seems to have much more torque. And as far I hydro locking worries, I have been in water up to my radiator or about mid way up the grill and I have had no problems. The intake I have is in somewhat a stock looking air box. It is more open than stock but its doing the job

So far, its been a wet wet winter and my Brute Force is completely dry. I dont even have a single spot of saltwater in my engine bay. Engine still has the original engine shine from the dealer lol.
