Cold Air Intake impact on warranty, mpg
Two quick questions related to cold air intakes:
1. Do they void the lifetime powertrain warranty?
2. What is the impact on mileage?
Thanks

My opinion from past experience.
They don't do much but add noise to your engine.
When you hear the air sucking noise, all you want to do is stomp on it more and there goes your mpg.
In combo with a catback freeflow exhaust you might feel alittle more peppy.
If you look at the hp gain charts they are all kicking in at high rpms. You don't drive that way in everyday driving.
I just put a drop in K&n replacement filter and I noticed about 1-2 mpg gain on the freeway. That was in combo with a Mobil 1 oil change.

1. No
2. And I had a Airraid and liked it but no differences it mpg.
But now I have 4.2 mpg more with my Snorkel plus it make no winding or wind noise like the airraid did.

Nothing will void the warranty, but it could impact your chances on getting warranty claims to anything involving what the intake inducts. Say like: Intake manifold, valves, combustion chamber, pistons, etc. You can then spend more money than it would cost to cover the replacement of parts by taking the claim to court regarding the Magnuson-Moss Act, but would have to prove that its not letting any more particles in through the filter than the stock airbox would.

I know that Chevy was giving people problems with the oiled filters due to the fact that oil clogged the MAF destroying it and also caused tranny shift problems before it went. AEM and a few others are using oil-less filters now which is my choice for filters now.

DITTO here, the hissing noise I thought was the break sensor rubbing turned out to be the Airaid system, I saw Airaid @ a show and they had no set fix other than return it to Quadratec for a full refund in which I did and they honored the refund.
