Default Cold Air Intake Kit?

Anyone have any experience installing one of these? Are there actually noticeable improvements?
Lastly, any recommendations?
Thanks,
SP

I run a banks power. Not because it has noticeable gains, but because it sounds great under normal driving and acceleration.

sent from my work leash

DITTO! Sounds awesome! It combined with a Magnaflow exhaust even my wife & daughters think it sounds great. Much better than factory. The install of the Banks version is very easy too.

This is my personal opinion about this particular topic, i'm all for high performance, and thus, every high performance vehicle i own or have owned, have had a CAI in various styles, however, for any offroad application, i'd rather leave the factory airbox and filter, the reasons are simple, i can't take my 500hp car through river crossings or drive the thing around the Mojave dust, that's why i have an offroad toy, and that's why the offroad toy has a very well designed airbox/filter that can keep those elements at bay, in my case, the offroad toy is also the DD 90% of the times, and it such configuration, i'm not looking for this thing to have better 0-60 times, win any Dyno contest, or to hear the engine growl as a result of a lot of air rushing in the intake tract, the more that paper media can filter dust, the longer that minivan engine will last, again, this is just my personal opinion, in the end, it's your money, and you don't need anybody here to tell you how to spend it

Every vehicle is different. Some manufacturers do a better job on the intake than others. Jeep did a good job on the 3.8 JK's intake so an aftermarket unit won't offer big gains in performance.

perfect advice. when i bought my jeep it had a cai on it and i wish it didn't, yes it sounds cool but it doesn't offer any protection to sand and water like the oem.

Totally agree with your post on this. Seeing I live in central PA.....not a chance I'll encounter Mojave dust. Lol. Also....water crossing aren't in my future here too much either. Maybe a creek a foot deep would be my biggest worry. I'm keeping the factory filter & airbox. If we plan something where either dust or water would play a factor I'll take the 30" the night before to swap it out. Here's my stomping grounds.

Just saw this related to your post of Mojave dust.

Do people living in CA think Diane Feinstein is as much of an idiot as the people here on the east coast?

Agreed! She's a blooming idiot! How does she keep getting re-elected? I would think most people reading the paper / watching the news would see what we see.
Feel sorry for you if this turns out bad. I assume you know about this. And I'm sure there's a better place on the forum to discuss. If there's a place fellow jeep people can help by signing something or writing letters you all in CA should post something. I'd do what I can. Good luck!
