Smile Cold air intake - Pros and Cons

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to this forum and I'd like to get information on your choices of CAI...

I've had my unlimited X for a year now and finally got around to get some gear in it. I've been thinking of installing a CAI for now along with my throttle body spacer to hopefully get rid of the mid range torque probs on the X.

HAve you guys ever had any problem with your CAI in rain situation and or any other type of issues.

I know most people say that CAI are a wast of time and money but I still want to install one in the next coming months.

If you guys have recommendation and pics it would be cool.

I'm not looking at deep water forging or any crazy offroading which would require a snorkel.

Cheers !

I had one bolted on for maybe 500 km's and my engine started running rich . I can't say a CAI will make your engine run rich, numerous people on here have them and have not had any issues. A free flow exhaust combined with a CAI would probably be the way to go as opposed to just a CAI.

And good exhaust upgrade will complement a CIA very well, and usually help improve your economy even more. The results very of course.

Several people will probably say CIA increases your risk of hydro-locking, and it may I can understand how it would. Others will show pictures of their Jeep equipped with a CIA spraying mud and watter over their top and havening no issues.

If you get a CAI get yourself a PRE-FILTER if you do any dusty road conditions...it helps filtrate the smaller particles (Silt), helps reduce the number of times in cleaning the CAI filter, & it also, helps reduce the water saturation into the filter when you drive through puddles, driving in rain or washing the engine. Very cheap investment something like $10-15.
