I only like mine for the fact that I can clean my air filter whenever I want and not have to buy a new one, saving me some money here and there. Also, I live in an area of high dust. Instead of replacing a filter every 3k and sometimes between oils changes due to wheeling out in the dunes, I just wash mine and its oil less.

You should add a pre cleaner, I have only had to clean my filter once in the last 4 years.

Even with all that dust up north? When I wash mine now after a trip to the dunes the bottom of the sink is covered in sand.

The 3.6L engines I've looked at essentially have a CAI where the air box takes air in.

For the 3.8L, I made a similar rubber baffle to draw air more air from the the headlamp and hood gap areas -- see https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...hanges-339534/ for some temperature data. Cheap, and no change in water fording ability.

^^ another pic, before the filter was installed, this is a true "cold air" intake.

I just bought an 09 rubicon. It came with a cheapo cone style filter installed right on to the intake hose. Dumb idea if you ask me, its just sucking in hot air. It did not come with the stock air cleaner lid, which i can not find locally so far. I does sound good but I know its not doing anything for performance increases.
Btw if anyone has a stock 3.8l air clearer box let me know!!
