Default Computer Programmer Warranty Void

My dealership are particularly good guys and sponsor off road events. They perform a number of mods, including Teraflex and AEV lifts. Concerned about my warranty, I have scheduled my lift to be done by this dealership. In conversation, I asked about computer programmers to adjust performance after the addition of larger tires. The AEV ProCal is okay and recommended, however all other programmers will void your warranty. It seems most everyone suspected this, but this is definite info. Just thought I would pass it along.

That's a confusing statement. I could see it voiding the warranty of the parts and pieces that it affects, but that's it. Did they mention which parts they consider the warranty voided for?

I thought everyone with the "other programmers" flashed back to the stock config before going to the dealership for work?

It's going to depend on the dealer. Mine will warrantee everything (except the 513 gears I supplied), although, he knows that I have no desire for more engine performance. When I asked if my lift, gears and superchip would void the warrantee, he said "Not here". Needless to say, he is a great dealer.

I just had this conversation with the dealer on the telephone while scheduling my lift. I will talk more with them next week when I am there for the lift. I have no idea if a dealer has any method of detecting a programmer, if you have flashed back to stock. My dealership is tolerant of a wide variety of mods and actually will perform most everything needed and honor warranties. Apparently programmers is not within this realm. Just thought I would pass it on.

Any programmer will void the warranty. Your lift will not be warrantied either by the factory. Regardless what is said, programmer being covered by warranty must be in writing...and probably won't fly with any other dealer..

Here is Superchips answer to it:

Will it void my warranty?

No. It is illegal for a dealership to void your warranty based solely on the fact that you have installed an aftermarket product. But always remove the tuning before going to a dealer for service. For information regarding denial of warranty coverage, go to the SEMA website.
But as with anything else, it depends on 'your' dealer. Find one that is mod-friendly...

I tuned the flashpaq back to stock before I had some warranty work done. If they knew or not, they didn't say anything. When it comes down to it, I think it all depends on the dealer.

It also depends on if you have the legal funds availible to go through the legal process as well, like 'they' do...

Better get the crap in writing because, as Wayoflife has described in great detail recently, Chrysler will not pick up the tab for the dealership. If the dealer wants to be on the hook for the aftermarket parts that's fine, but Chrysler can force their dealers not to warranty parts on vehicles that are flagged with the "scarlet letter". Remember people, the dealership ain't paying a dime to fix your ride, they send that big fat bill to Chrysler so you know that they are at the whim of the big "C" regardless of what they tell you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad your dealer is being reasonable but you'd better get that stuff in writing or it don't mean diddly.

I forgot to mention it, but I didn't buy the JK from that Great Dealer. He didn't have one and I was trading an 09 Acadia for it, but I found a dealer with what I wanted and had a quick buyer for mine. Nobody could match the price. That doesn't matter to my dealer (we bought Dodge service trucks from him) he'll take care of what ever I need for my new one.
