The STT's were not as good on the snow and ice from my experiences. Saying that i mean i had to put the truck into 4wd more often than with the Toyo's. I would reccommend if you can afford toyo's get them. STT's are a good tire if your on a tight budget but there are better tires out there that cost just as much or less than the STT's.

what tires are better then the STT's and are cheaper? cuz i'm
still trying to pick my first tires. so any help would be great

I have to say the Cooper STT and Toyo M/T's run about the same on snow and ice from my experience....THEY BOTH really stink on ice & wet slushy snow....just because of very little sipping on the tread and I got the 12.50 wide tires.

My comparison from experience Cooper STT and Toyo M/T:

Traction: Both Winners for Mud & dirt traction and no lug chunking.

Quietness: I have to give it Cooper STT just slightly...but both are very quiet on pavement for a mud terrain

Wear: Both Winners....I got just over 85,000km on my Toyo M/T's on my Dodge Ram CTD only rotating 4 tires. Cooper STT's I have just about 40,000 km and I got close to 3/4 of the tread left...just crazy but that is rotating all 5.

Side-wall- Toyo's they are practically bullet proof....however, I have not experienced a side wall puncture of failure on the STT's.

Cost: Cooper STT's are the winner here I saved about $120 CDN/tire over going with the Toyo M/T.

Weight:
Cooper STT's are the winner here a little lighter tire.

I don't think you really could go wrong with either.

Some other brands you may want to check out for prices and are popular for off-roaders and a few JK members:

Procomp X-treme M/T
Nitto Mud Grapplers
BFG KM2's
Mickey T's MTZ's
