Cost to regear?
Just got new set of yukon 4.88 gears in (Thx Marcus @ RCO!!)
I've started looking for a shop to do the install. There are no off-road shops anywhere near me.
shop I got a quote from said 10-11 hours @ $70 an hour. That seems a little absurd to me.
Just wondering what everyone else (who didn't do it themselves) was paying for this. Is this estimate way off? Or are they all going to be about this much?
2011 JKU sport non limited slip, no lockers. 4.88 with master install kit.

A few shops offer gears + labor for $1000.
Somewhere around $1600 seems to be fairly average.
The upper end seems to be some east coasters and upper northwesters who get quotes for over $3000.
Again, that is what we see reported for gears + labor, out the door.
For my local rates, I checked seven different shops and got quotes from $300/ axle to $510/axle.
I also got warranties that varied from none when I supplied gears, to 90 days for parts/labor, to lifetime on parts + 1 year on labor, to ...
There were also varying extra labor charges for adding different lockers/limiteds.
So - check 'your' local shops and compare those. What any of us pay is absolutely meaningless to you

I retract the previous "absurd" comment. Looks like I need to budget a little more. The rate wasn't shocking, more the hours. Wasn't ready to drop it off for 2 days. Of course not open on weekends, and it being a daily driver. The rate is competitive for the area. The economy over here is sloooow. Most everyone keeps their rates regardless of trade low to get as much work possible. I just wasn't prepared for 10 hours....
