Cost to regear?
I retract the previous "absurd" comment. Looks like I need to budget a little more. The rate wasn't shocking, more the hours. Wasn't ready to drop it off for 2 days. Of course not open on weekends, and it being a daily driver. The rate is competitive for the area. The economy over here is sloooow. Most everyone keeps their rates regardless of trade low to get as much work possible. I just wasn't prepared for 10 hours....
That's why a lot of mechanics won't dabble in gears..

After reading though it, decide if you think that spending a little more time and getting it right might just be a bit more preferable than a mechanic who does it quick, slaps them together, and then they seize or start chewing themselves to bits or whatever.
