You are absolutely right; if it's your vehicle you can do whatever you want to it (barring adding a Vulcan to the roof....). But my question is, why would you?

Why would you spend the money on a vehicle that is designed to go off road then completely negate that functionality by lowering it...?
Sounds like a complete waste of money.
That is the whole point. Something different, abnormal, eye catching to a judge. Kinda what car shows are all about. Money wise, it'd be a cheaper beginning project than hacking up a new vette (which gets done a LOT)

Now, i wouldnt want one lowered myself, but it would be a fun project to work on (on someone else's dime) and i wouldnt mind seeing one completed just so i could stare in bemused amazement.

Edit: That pic of the Daytona Wrangler is an April Fools joke from a few years back, i cant believe i am still seeing that come up *L*

For the same reason people buy pick ups and lower them so they go from being able to haul a thousand pounds to hauling a couple hundred. I don't get it, but it's not mine, so live and let live.

There are a lot of Fast & Furious lowrider import fart-can rockets around here, I dont LIKE them, but i can appreciate the time, talent, and effort that goes into them just the same.
Well here you go. Bemuse away....

There are SEVERAL jacked up 4X4 Corvettes on Blazer chassis in this area, and the Corvette SURE wasn't designed like all that. That doesn't mean they ain't cool, though. It's all in what you like and if somebody wants to put 24s on a Jeep and scrub the ground with it, then more power to um. It's still a Jeep.

By name only. Not by function.

As many people in here probably know, one of the stories as to the origin of the name "Jeep" is the derivative of the term "General Purpose Vehicle" to "GP" to "Jeep".

There is NOTHING general purpose about that thing...
