Default Cut Fender Reinforcement

Anyone who has cut their fenders has surely noticed the lack of reinforcement. I've had an idea of how to keep it sturdy but would like to hear other ideas.

My idea is to buy some L brackets, bolt one end the the body and either rivit or bolt the other to the fender. I'm open to suggestions. Go!

Great idea. I'm too lazy to do that for a stock fender. I would probably mount the L bracket and let the fender just sit on the bracket rather than bolting it. Just enough up pressure to keep it from sagging

Cut fenders flexing is a good thing IMO. They dont transfer damage to the body.

I agree with you. However, what I'm trying to do is keep the rear portion of the front fenders from ripping out of the clips. It's happened twice on the highway when a semi goes by. Luckily I carry spares.

That would be ideal and is in the future for me.

I've never had a problem with the rear part of the fender coming out but the front yes (especially towing behind my motorhome). To fix it, I just installed a fairly large black machine screw through the fender into the lower support (about six inches or so from the front of the fender right in the middle). Easy peasy, but you do have to put up with seeing the screw on each side. Never had a problem since.

I replaced the clips with 1/4" bolts, fender washers and wing nuts for the front. Never had a problem with the clips in the rear.

Cool

I am not sure if you kept the support skeleton that was underneath the fender but I cut mine a little shorter than the finished fender and then I cut that piece at a slight angle to give it a finished look. Once reassembled I secured the top fender the skeleton using black silicon and once it dries it is still flexible but it is not going anywhere. I wanted to add that I am still using the original OEM clips
