d30 gears
Unlimited auto 3.73 and 33s. d30f and d44 rear. Ive seen all the charts and read a ton of threads. Ive seen people running 5.13 with 33 and 35. Seems everyone likes it.
Question is, should I put 5.13 in a d30. ive seen threads that say no prob and some that say don't go lower than 4.88. So what are the opinions go no lower than 4.88 or go to 5.13 in a d30.

Since you have an auto the most popular choice is 5.13s with 35s as probably read.
Regarding the D30 just be aware of not pushing it too hard off road or in the snow.
I'm sure you must get some snow overflow from Mammoth on occasion. Right?

The 4.88s or the 5.13s will be fine with your 33s, but pretty much be the end of the line if you move to larger tires. Not an expense you want to incur twice, so if there is even a chance that you would move to 35s I would go to the 5.13s.
the gussets you'll need to keep the c's from bending but the sleeves are totally unnecessary and won't do squat for you. you can drive just fine with a bent axle tube but if you lock up and don't have chromo shafts, you run the very real risk of breaking an axle shaft. i would save your money and invest in a set of chromo shafts instead.

Im going for reliability, id like to have 35s in the future but my 33s r only couple of months old.
This is my first jeep and I have enjoyed minor wheeling, it's also a daily driver.
As far as reliability goes, it;s for fishing and hunting. I always go with with a friend but we only take one vehicle. S0 i want to build something thats going to come back in those situations. I know things break on occasion anyway but seems more likely if you r just doing rock crawling or hardcore wheeling.
Maybe a lcoker in rear and a tru track front. im not rich so i want everything i do to it to be for a reason, not just cause i want certain parts on it.
Wish i had wol job, i dont know what he does for a living but man he's got all the goodys, love his jeeps.
I also have a 3 inch bds lift which rides great, went 3 because i figured when i throw bumpers on it, it will be the perfect height for me, also has pro comp extreme at''s

Well then flounder, I would say you would be just fine with your D30, 35 inch tires and 5.13s. Sounds like your building your rig much like mine. I love my fishing, I love my hunting and I go out alone mostly so I expect my rig to get me into those hard to reach spots and to get me out. I have no concerns running my current 4.10s in the D30 with 33s and a truetrac up front. I wouldnt have any more concern if were to push up to 5.13s and 35s with my current setup. Its good to be aware of the potential for failure between your pinion and ring with 5.13s and 35s up there, but just be smart about things and Id expect you to be fine.
Administrator, Planman already told me about chormoly axleshafts and gussets, but I have a question now: Do you mean that, with them axleshafts and gussets it’s like if I have a Dana 44 front?. I mean, reinforcing the Dana 30 with gussets, sleeves and chromoly axleshafts, fitting 5.13 groups, and without fitting any lockers, do I have to be so careful in snow and in wheeling?. Or, in other words, do I have to be same careful as a guy with Rubicon front Dana 44 axle?.
And one more question: Are axleshafts the weakest part of Dana 30 axles?. And, are D44 and D30 axleshafts the same?. I think it was 2 questions. Sorry :-)
