It's not that easy to check as the thing is almost completely wrapped up in it's own little sleeping bag. It's snowing at the moment so I will have a look in the morning.

I'm not that impressed with the Optima. Over the last month or so, cold mornings seem to be giving it a hard time. My 4.0L XJ that is parked in the same garage overnight has an Odyssey PC1200MJT and it copes with the cold far better.

I have an AccuMate Pro charger that is designed for Odyssey and Optima batteries. The yellow Optima recovers well after being plugged in. I suppose cranking the diesel motor, short 30 to 40 minute journeys and overnight temperatures sometimes at 14F (-10 degrees Celsius) take their toll. If it packs up and doesn't get replaced under warranty, I will get an Odyssey to replace it.

I measured last night and it seems like it will be about a 1/2" too long. Id have to pull the stock battery out to really get a good measurement of the tray and to see if it could be easily trimmed to fit the larger optima. I might do that this week when I install my winch.

Ben: Is your blue top a D34M or D31M?

Here's a picture of the battery in my diesel JK. The Optima part number sticker is obscured by the battery jacket and I would have to take the battery out to read it. The battery is roughly 320mm long and 165mm wide. Again, I would have to take the battery out to get accurate dimensions and a measurement for the height. Hope this helps.

ok just looked in parts catalogue it is a 31d
that battery is part #0472747AC
hold down bracket as seen above 55397393AB
but the tricky part it may require a different tray on the fender (can the poster of the pic above take a shot from the driver side looking toward the battery and post?
and cover or wrap around is 055397393ab

I will try. The diesel motor is sat rearward towards the firewall and there is not much space down the side of the battery.
