Default Daily drivers

So I bought my jk about 9 months ago. I love it and do modest wheelin but want to make some big trips in the future too.

My jeep is just a toy now as I have an Acura for a daily driver. I really like the jeep and am about to sell my Acura a make my jk into a daily driver and weekend toy.

Thoughts?

What kind of sending limit can you honestly afford? I am pretty happy w/ my 2.5 lift and 35" tires. Skid plates are a plus and recovery gear. Just a thought,,,

I have a company vehicle so My JK is my Toy and I'v put about 4K worth of my monthly bonus money into it. But to be Honest 4K is just barley enough to get started. I would honestly say the car is going to be a better DD for you than a 08. If you got a 2013 you would be better off. They improved the interior and added alot of creature comforts to make it a better daily driver in my opinion. Plus with the upgraded engine you will still be able to rock 35's and have plenty of power to spare.

I say take both in to the dealer and try to get a 2013.. you wont regret it

Thumbs up 2013

I drive about 70- 80 miles a day in my 2013. I agree that the creature comforts of the 13 make it much more confortable to drive for longer distances and the upgraded engine is a big plus when navigating traffic. Gas mileage still sucks but really who cares, I'm driving a Jeep.

I've put about 9,200 miles on my '12 I bought in August with 2 miles. 8,600 with 35's and a 2.5" lift. I commute roughly 50 miles a day on the interstate at about 70-75mph. I average around 14.5mpg. It's worth it in my opinion.

Selling the JK you just bought to get a 2013 isn't a very good idea in my opinion. If you have an 'X', you likely got a good deal on it. Nothing wrong with that.

My JK is my only vehicle and I commute 20 miles to work each way. My goal with my jeep has been to modify it so that it's capable of doing just about anything off road but still be comfortable and fun to drive around town. I feel like I've accomplished that with 2.5" lift, 35's, 4.88 gears, and a rear locker. If you go too big on lift and tires, you're going going to regret it as a daily driver. I can do just about any trail that the big boys can.

If I were you, I'd create 2 lists with prices and totals. List 1: Running 33's, List 2: Running 35's. I wouldn't want to run anything bigger than a 35 on a daily driver or commuter vehicle. You can still do alot of trails on just 33's and a small lift. If you go up to 35's, you'll want to regear and you might as well throw in a locker or two and that's where the costs really jump up higher.

I have considered this but...
1) my wife will shit a brick!
2) I have already but a chunk into this one.
- front number
- winch
- 2.5" teraflex spring lift
- rock sliders
- duratracs
- corner guards (AEV)
- seat covers
- engine, tranny skid
- lower control arm skids front and rear.
- soft top
- lifts

Not sure howuch I can get back. It has 31000 miles.

Probably missed a couple things. Pics are at couple different stages.

Is the 13 really worth it!?!

I think
We are on the same page. I have 32" duratracs that are plenty capable. I bought them
First before the lift. So I don't have the look I really want but it is hard to justify a new set when what I have is capable. I should have done the shocks with the lift but... I didn't so I think I am ready to move to a good set of bilateins

After that I am thinking exhaust, maybe a snorkel and or CAI. Hopefully everything above with the profit fr selling the Acura (which I
Must say, fits me like a glove and I love that car! It's just a really big payment when I drive the jeep as much as I do. The car has really turned into a commuter good mpg vehicle. My spare time is spent driving the jeep.)

After that I should be ready for new shoes. I want 35's but as you stated I really have a lot of other things that really need to happen at the
Same time. Gears, lockers. But I'm going to need to save up for this stuff!

The 2013 is interesting but.... I'm struggling to justify the value. The only other consideration is going to an unlimited...
