I'm glad I saw this... I was planning on buying a truss to add to my 30. I'm the kind of person that would rather make it stronger than deal with costly fixes down the road, but if there is a good chance of bending the axle when putting the truss on, maybe I will hold off.

of the two options, i would do sleeves over a truss. having said that, if you plan on locking your 30 and playing hard, i would start thinking about chromoly axle shafts even before that. the likelyhood you'll break a shaft, especially due to a c-clip failure is far greater than your chances of bending an axle housing. in addtion to being stronger, chromo shafts come with full circle clips and that will help prevent a very common trail break.

I was not sure how I would go about all of the welding, as I have never done it and don't know anyone personally who does. I ordered the Nitro sleeves because of the exact reason anticipating that this would prevent me from having to install my gears with a welder... or install my gears and then take it to a welder to tear it apart again.

Luckily I found someone to give me a hand with my gears, gussetts, sleeves, and lower control arm skids on the forum. Ill be taking the opportunity to learn a bit more myself about the inner workings of my axle. I was thinking that since I am not around someone with this welding skill set often that I might have him help me with a truss all at once... if you can understand all of that. I am confident in his ability to weld it properly but if my money can be better spent elsewhere I would rather do that.
