Default Dana 30 with elocker and rcvs

Any input is appreciated. I'm looking to order my parts soon for my front axle. Looking to do 4.56s, eaton e locker, rcv axles, and inner nitro sleeves... Possibly axle truss but kinda think thats overkill. Please let me know what you think.

That's a lot of money to drop into a 30 at one shot. I assume that you don't plan on going larger than a 35" tire. Otherwise I would just save a little more and swap the 30 for a 44. I run an ARB with 488's and 35's on my stock 30. 5 year now and only one broken ujoint. I am finally going to put on c gussets but that's all for now till I break a shaft then I will up grade the shaft to chromoly. There is a thread on here somewhere that stated it will only cost a few hundred more to go to a 44 compared to adding up all the mods u hafta do to beef up the 30. So it depends on whether you are going to do it all at once or in stages.

Sounds sweet, especially the rcv's. I have been looking at those too. Not sure if you gusseted your c's yet, you should add that to the list if you haven't. And I have seen a real cool axle truss kit from Pure jeep, might sound like overkill, but your spending a lot of money on that Dana 30 already.

Thanks for the input, I'm pretty heartset on upgrading the 30... I personally believe that if I put all this money into the 30 I'll be fine. I already have gussets, I don't wheel hard, and plan on keeping 35's... (Maybe, lol). But I think the elock for the 30 only comes for 30spline axles... So I may as well upgrade to rcvs.

I don't really feel like going to a 44 and then having to upgrade that for more $$ when I plan on making my 30 stronger than a stock 44... (At least I believe)

I hear ya, doing my 30 in baby steps, I did my gears when I first got it and before I found this forum. Even if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't change the way I did things. Goo luck and I'm sure it will be fine. Just my thinking but when I upgrade my axel shafts I will be going with chromoly because I would like to leave the ujoint as the weak link, very easy to change if it brakes. Food for thought.

The weakest link on the D-30 is the tiny pinion gear. No matter how much you build a 30, it will still be weaker than a 44 because of this. Especially running lower ratio gears which add more teeth to an already small part, making it even more prone to failure
