Dana 44 help
Be been looking for a Dana 44 front from a jeep BUT I found a Dana 44 front from a 81-91 dodge but it's an 8 bolt. Is it possible to change it to a 5 bolt using modern jeep parts? Have the housings changed from 81-91 now with the 2013.
The person is also selling a Dana 60 rear. Is it possible to pack these under my jeep or just use the Dana 44 front?

Looks like you would spend a lot of $$$ to modifications of this type.. you would be better off with staying with Jk parts. find a wrecker yard that has JK's.

If I were going to go thru the hassle of welding on new brackets I would go with a D60 over a D44. Otherwise if I were in your shoes I would look at either a Rubicon take off D44 or a pro rock or teraflex 44.

Don't know anything about those axles, but all brackets would need to be redone, and your electronics would not work. You can get spacer/adapters to change the lug pattern.
JK housings are specific to JK's. They are wider than previous d30/d44's, with different shaft lengths and different gears. The front JK axles are high pinion, a lot of the older ones are low pinion.
There are quite a few junkyard axle build threads that would give more info. Spend a few days reading before you drop and cash.
A lot of builder info.
