Just make certain that the Zip-ties are 11" long:

It was cold when I put them on, and it has been cold ever since, so they may not have stretched out.

It is an easy spot to use touch up paint, but a little frustrating considering that I don't have 8k miles on my JK yet.

I would use them again, but would have waited for it to warm up a little before I put them on.

Mine are also so tight that they've rubbed some paint off. I've tried just about every type of rigid foam or other insulating material betwen those corners of the hood and fender, but it always seems to get sliced in half...oh well, I'll just keep touching it up until I find something that will hold up.

IMO that is a small price to pay for knowing that my hood isn't going to fly off going down the highway

Don't forget you still have the actual metal hood latch that keeps the hood from flying off.

I know...I was just exaggerating But there was definitely times when I believe that latch was the only thing keeping the hood on

I bought the daystars (or got them as a gift) put them on and was worried about the paint issue too. I then heard, from here, about the recall latches and bought those. They did the trick around town, a little tighter, but the first trip on the highway the hood started picking up. As soon as I got home, I put the Daystars back on. Mine isn't quite tight enough to chip the paint though. I think one thing to try would be the same kind of foam that is around the soft top door surrounds in between the soft top and the plastic.

Hopefully it works out for you.

$10 isn't bad but it seems odd that they don't recall the 08 & 07's.

I've been told that the recall latches fix a problem that was inherent on only the recall vehicles--the recall latches are not designed to stop hood dance. Both JackMac4 and HighRlr (and others) have attested to the fact that the recall latches did not stop their hoods from doing the boogey down the highway.

Not everyone. I'm going on 6 months now with my updated Mopar latches and they're still functioning perfectly. My stock hood latches were scary on a windy day...

Fixed mine like a charm. Mine was a very late '08 build if that makes any difference...
