Default Dealer mod to keep back window bumpers on

SOFTOPS ONLY....Found this out from a friend who has a JK here.. .. The Local Dealership drilled and put screws in his rear window bumper thingys.

And from what he told me.. this is how they did it. At an angle in the middle of the part. and I am sure not interfering with the softops rear flap plastic.

SO YOU GUYS THAT ARE LOOSING YOURS.. THIS IS THE FIX..!!

This is absurd - the dealership should order the replacement piece with the NEW part number to replace the old, defective part... my dealership did just that (I'm waiting for the part to come in).

No only do you end up drilling your sheetmetal with your proposed solution, but you also make it a super pain in the ass to remove (for, let's say, putting your hard top back on). Bad idea IMHO...

I'm thinking I'm going to try stick-on velcro... I really have a fear of drilling due to the fact that I'm near salt water and ANY bare surface rusts. If I wasn't in fear of rust I would surely do this instead.

Geez.. i thought it wasn't that bad and would keep the part from popping off when stretched.. Didn't know I was going to catch a bunch of crap for speaking up..!!

Don't like it.. don't do it..!!

and do they really have a replacement part that is better than one on a JK built in March of 07??
