I now know that it is the front end in my case. I had a passenger hang out the Jeep and look at the tires. The wheels wobble so bad that they come out of the fender flares. The passenger loved it but was scared to drive it so I could look at it.

I would love to stick a camera down there and video it but I am afraid that the wobble would take out the camera.

I would have thought that the blown steering stabilizer happened because of the death wobble. Not vice versa.

Ha, ha...I did the same thing. Actually had my boss hang out the window and tell me what it looked like. When he came back in he was all white. I don't think he believed me when I told him how bad it was. I was telling him how some folks were continuing to doubt if it was really "death wobble." I tell you what, it put the fear of god into him and he absolutely believes it is nothing but death wobble. I don't care what its called, I just want it gone.

steering stablizer CANNOT cause DW. installing a new stabilizer will only mask whatever is actually causing your DW.

Re-torqued the front and rear trackbars to 125 ft-lbs - DW still there
Checked the ball joints - DW still there

replaced the steering stabalizer 3 times ( yes i told them this was not the prob)
3 alignments
3 rotates and balances
new OEM track bar

6. What was the"fix" or are you still dealing with it
Nothing so far

When i picked it yesterday from the dealer the service number told me that after talking to the owner and chrysler they said that due to the lift the steering geometry is off and that they will not do any more work until I do one of two things :
1: get an upgraded SS and another track bar to center my front axel
2: remove the lift and put it back to stock suspension.

~57,000

3. Approx mileage when DW started
~50,000

4. Suspension (OEM, etc. Make sure you list all components like AM trac bar, CAs)
Teraflex 3" with full flexarm and HD forged front trackbar

4. Wheel/Tires/spacers
315/70/17 BFG AT. M/T Classic II rims.

5. What measures you have taken to resolve DW
Replaced worn balljoints - seemed to help, but not cure
Replaced Drag-link with Rockkrawler HD unit - cured about 50% of DW
Replaced Tie Rod with Rockkrawler HD Unit - Cured the rest of the problem

6. What was the"fix" or are you still dealing with it?

Fix was most likely a combo of worn stock joints. Death wobble hasn't returned with at least 4,000 miles on this setup. Hopefully someone will make some good ball joints for these axels.

Interesting that you ball joints, tie rod, and drag link were the cause. I feel like mine could be related to one or all of those things, as....well....I'm running out of options! Did you notice wear or something with the drag link and tie rod, or did you just take a shot? Also, were there any symptoms of your death wobble....like the feeling of loose, vibrating wheels after hitting divets or bumps (even when not death wobbling)? Mine has this at any speed. Then, when the conditions are right, this is the trigger of my death wobble.

Finn,

I noticed all the symptoms you described. I could see some play in the draglink, so I took a chance with rockkrawler. The new unit was really beefy and helped, so I took a chance and ordered the tie rod shortly afterward, even though I could not visibly see any play. The tie rod fixed the problem and my front end is rock solid again.
