The track bar is fine and torqued to spec. No broken brackets or welds. I have a stock stabilizer, but have even run without it to try and pinpoint the problem since a stabilizer will only mask the real problem.

I might be able to try out my friends tires. It would be good to see what his 37's look like on there!

Any other ideas from anybody?

X2! That thread helped me. I ran through the check list and found many things wrong. Fixed them and now all good. If you did the same and still not solved then post on that thread so that planman will have some input.

Try someone else's tires. I went through hell trying to figure mine out. I too had nothing out of spec or broken. Tire ware and balance can reek hell on the JK front end. I ended up getting a road force balance which seemed to help but still wasn't perfect, so I ended up moving tires around until the felt normal. Been fine since. Put the bad tires on the rear and let it ware back to flat.

I have since taken my jeep to another shop, and they couldn't find anything wrong.

I put my stock track bar back on. That didn't help.

I put a new tie rod on thinking maybe the old one was bent or damaged. That didn't help.

Dealer and the shop mentioned above both said the ball joints are fine.

Verified again and again that everything is torqued to spec and none of the bushings in the control arms are damaged or bound up.

I'm really needing some help here. It's frustrating when even the so-called "experts" can't help, and I'm left to my own lack of expertise in my garage.

HELP!
I know how frustrating a death wobble can be! I recently had a death wobble. Fortunately, I seem to have fixed it. I did several things to fix it, but I believe installing an new drag link flip kit and pitman arm was the solution. But, for the benefit of full disclosure, I also did a tire balance, rotation and alignment and retorqued the suspension.

I am very pleased that my death wobble is fixed and my JK has never driven better! I believe the drag link flip, which raised the trackbar mounting 3" and restored my steering geometry close to factory design, was the key that fixed my death wobble problem. It really smoothed out everything and now my Jeep handles great!

I wonder if your problem is some how related to lifting your Jeep. I know that it has been several years since your lift, but doing so changed your steering geometry. Others are much more knowledgable than I but, I wanted to share with you what my experience was and how I resolved it.

Good luck!

P.S. It seems every shop wants to replace the ball joints!!! That is expensive. (I think approximately 5 hours of labor + parts!!!)

I know you say your track bar is good.
But for me my aftermarket one had fatigued after about 2 years and was flexing, causing oscillation, which led to death wobble full on. I put OEM one on and no DW issues. ESP wasn't happy though.
Before I found that solution I had tried others lighter wheels/tires and OEMs and was death wobble free.
My 33s and soft 8s were just heavy enough to cause the fatigued track bar to flex.
Replaced with a Clayton adjustable track bar to recenter front end and no issues.
Upgraded to 35s and still goin fine.

Good luck, and i feel your pain, my search for a solution was almost 2 months long. My JK was undriveable and it is my DD. I was so frustrated I seriously looked into trading it in for a pick up!

That won't fix the cause of the problem. Changing/adding a steering stablizer only masks the source of the problem.

I'll try some other tires, but I find it hard to believe that would be the problem. I guess i wont know until i try it. As for the drag link flip, my drag link and track bar are really close to parallel, so I don't think that would help. I only have a TF 2.5 coil lift, so I think the flip bracket shouldn't be needed.

I have a perfectly good ss and I still had DW. Fix the underlying issue or else expect to pay more to fix the issue in the long run.
