Delayed throttle response
i have a 2009 6 speed sahara and when reading your post, it was like driving my jeep. I have noticed it since I got my jeep and was sure it was about trottle lag as describe in this forum but it looks like 2 different things. And for me, it is not happening all the time, but most 80% of the time .when shiftin a 2200rpm, then the jeep almost stall, then pick up. the only solution is to shift around 3000-3500rpm, but mpg suffer lol. I have not took the jeep to the dealer because I think most people will think it is normal. So the dealer.
keep the good work, looks like you're into something with the advance timing thing.....

Yeah, I get that "lag" quite often (6 speed)...most often just after shifting into 2nd gear....in fact, I think that is the only time I have ever felt it.
I am running a Superchips as well.

Interesting as I do a lot of first to third shifts winding out first gear so I am hitting third at about 1500 rpm.
I have had my sprint booster in for about 2 months now and it is the real deal. I have the superchips too and did nothing about the delay by the drive by wire. The sprint booster takes the lag right out of it. May not look like much but you will be happy . I would have liked to see what this did before all the other mods I did to help the throttle response. So I say go for it.

The hesitation we are talking about here is the result of a major reduction of total engine timing under certain circumstances. It is not related to lag between changes in the accelerator pedal and movement of the throttle plate.
I'm not sure how the sprint booster could affect an internal PCM algorithm that drastically reduces total ignitional timing based on the rate of change in accelerator pedal position.
This happens in my 2007 6 speed. The first time it happened i thought I was going to stall, 1st to 2nd shift going around the corner. Used to be able to go around corners and gun it in 2nd with both my 4.0L XJ and YJ - now it just feels like it wants to wait a while before it goes. My son drives a 1992 XJ and he says that the JK feels much wimpier at the low end too.
My lag gear in my 2007 manual seems to be 4th. Whenever I shift from 3rd to 4th at about 2000 RPM's I get a pause before the engine wakes up and starts moving me forward again. Extremely annoying and I've had to wait until around 2,500 RPM to shift from 3rd to 4th to combat it.
