Default differences in 40 and 42tires setup advice

soon I will be starting a jk project for my brother and wanted advice wether we go with the 40 or 42tire setup. the jk will be used both road and offroad but not very extreme offroad. Bushwacker flat fenders is going to be used.

1. whats the lift kit required for such setup? is the tf 6inch enough?
2. is there a compromise in ride quality between the two?
3. things I should keep in mind before going through?
4. What tires recommended in 40 and 42?

thank you

you will need alot more than a lift kit for 40's +. jptwinz runs forty's i would pm him or look at his writeups and posts. but the only difference is 2 inches lol.

You're putting 40 or 42" tires on a JK that wont be used very much/hard offroad?

So you're going through all this time, money and effort just to try to look big and tough?

The types of mods to fit those tire sizes would sacrifice some kind of road comfort regardless.

Definitely invest in c gussets and chromo shafts. Also, you're going to want to regear to 5.38's.

X2 6" TF should be enough with flats. You can always throw in coil spacers or a BL too...

and i'm assuming you're talking about a rubicon...i hope

Edit: You will also need to trim/bend the pinch seam.

If your not buying 60's, I would'nt suggest it. You will blow apart your 44's, assuming you have a rubicon.

6" of lift will work with flat fenders
