do i need a oil pan skid
depending on the kind of trails you wheel on, i would definitely recommend getting some kind of oil pan protection as the JK does not come with any. one great option is to replace your oil pan with a HD unit like this...

or, install a basic skid like this...

in spite of what some may try to suggest, this really is all that you need.
as far as your evap canister goes, again, it really depends on the kind of wheeling you do but, if anything, relocating it might be the better way to go. me, i haven't done anything with mine. sure, i have knocked mine off 3 times but, only once damaged it enough to warrant a replacement. i believe it was something like $75.

i have the rancho one and glad i put it on, if not i would never gotten out of the back woods of NH. when i went to change tho oils last week there was a gouge the leith of the pan. had i not had the skid, i would have to had walked 14 miles back to the highway.
funny thing is i never knew i hit anything. never heard any grinding . banging, nothing.
