Default Drill/Drill bit for AEV High-Steer kit

I was wondering what the recommendations would be for drilling a 7/8" whole in the knuckle where the draglink attaches. I don't have very many tools of my own and usually rely on the auto shop on base to have the tools for me. They don't have a 7/8 bit and I doubt the sketchy drills they have could get a clean pass. Anyone that has done this install have any tips? Thanks!

I went to Harbor Freight and bought this 8 piece drill bit set just to get the 7/8" bit - Link. I was surprised at how well this bit worked and is still quite sharp even after drilling through the knuckle! Just make sure you use lots of WD-40 and go slow.

Not to scare you, more so to shed light on the importance of it....

Take the knuckle off before you drill! Make sure you have it in a vice grip, c-clamped nice and tight before you drill. Don't make the mistake the first install shop who did mine and drill it still on the jeep causing the new hole to be angled. That caused slight ovaling of the hole over the added miles and snapped that huge bolt....you guessed it.....on the trail. Lost my steering, etc.

My suggestion, if you have a little extra coin and a machine shop in the area, have them bore it out.

Cool, man. Thanks. I was thinking about this. I don't mind spending a little extra to get it right the first time. Hopefully this will be accomplished next weekend.
