This proves you repeat what you read not what you know. A Woody does NOT have cheap chinese joints. As a matter of fact, he not only warranties the joint but any damage to the shaft if the joint would break and damage it. Not the case with others. Coast makes great shafts and so does Jim Reel. Whatever you chose, talk to the rep first.

and, this just proves that you repeat whatever you're sold and not what you know. some companies use quality spicer or neapco u-joints without having to order them as an upgrade and others do in fact use a cheap u-joint made in china. just because it may have a name describing a precious metal doesn't mean that it's worth it's weight in it. i will say that it's a good thing they are warranteed though because i have personally seen them fail time and time again. and, rather than just offering a better part right from the get go, some companies would prefer to send threatening letters to guys like me, with the hope of shutting them up and hiding the truth. but hey, what do i know - i've only got my experience to work off of. you of course have talked to sales reps who've successfully sold you a part.

Ok, tell us what you know. 1) Where are Woods joints made? 2) Who makes them? (name of actual manufacturer please)

Lifetime warranties are pretty cool when you get back home from the trail. They don't do much though to actually get you home from the trail.

The debate continues. A driveshaft is a driveshaft. A cylindrical piece of balanced metal. The shafts are overall the same. If you have the parts and a welder anyone can make one, that is if you can balance it. THe u joints need to be good ones.

Really. I have a copy of the letter you were sent from Woods and it clearly outlines what companies make his joints including Spicer, Neapco and Rockford.

I also use products that I feel are the best I value, reliability and serve my needs. Not because Billy Bob says he does.

It's a fact if anyone on this forum uses or mentions any vendor other then a sponsor, its just not a good enough part. Even if your best sponsors sell that product.

Funny, you sent Woody an email on Feb 3, 2011 telling him " you make really good driveshafts and have good customer service and what you have can benefit our members". Only after he declined being a sponsor did you then blast his shafts. As you do with any non- sponsor.

I state the truth and this by no means takes away from Coast or JE Reel as they are excellent shafts too. Each Jeeper just has the right to be given the correct information.

I've posted this before, but Spicer joints are now primarily manufactured in Mexico and India. 'Made in the USA' is a great thing that they've been able to keep as a perception. Everyone who touts their 'made in the USA' message further supports this myth. Country of origin has zero to do with quality of product. Process of forging or casting, quality of materials, and overall manufacturing QA is where the rubber meets the road. I have been involved in manufacturing offshore for years as a business and have seen this first hand.

So far I've been impressed with Tom's product. I run it because Tom has been the defacto standard in offroading for years. You don't get that name by producing crap.
