Which driveshaft
Hey WOL just curious when this took place? I had problems with my Reel shaft. I had sent it to Reel twice and had local driveline shop look at it. I think i bought it in later 09 early 10. My Coast shaft took care of my problems but i will say that Reel stood behind his name and made things right between us. i was one that had problems after installing 538's.
For the most part, a 1310 is really all that you need and you should be fine with it. The obstacle that I broke my shaft on was something I should have bypassed that day and knew it. The undercut on the ledge is severe and it essentially causes your rear tires to get wedged in. When that happens, spinning things tend to come to an abrupt stop. If you're unlucky like I was, that energy will find a way to release itself.
Easy to Find, Just type Tom Woods Driveshaft Issues. And Jeep aren't the only ones having issues.

I googled a number of things...
...I'm just not finding results that suggest even 1 in 500 or 1000 failed shortly after purchase--or even at all if they were serviced and the pinion angle was correct.

Stating that his u-joints are Chinese junk/crap/poor quality without more than a few anecdotal experiences on an internet magazine/business website like this could get expensive the more lawyers get involved.
With the Rubicon Express bushing debacle that essentially put them out of business, it was easy to find pages of search results of TJ, XJ, and JK owners with failed bushings. It wasn't just a rear radius design issue--although that made it worse with the JK long arm kits.
There wasn't a potential slander liability with RE because the evidence was overwhelming.

Oh my god, you have got to be kidding me if you really think there was overwhelming evidence out there when I first stated talking about the problems they were having with their bushings. Since you seem to have forgotten, there were in fact numerous threads just like this one where people were accusing me of slander and how I was only trash talking RE because they weren't a sponsor here. Of course, we both know that in the end, I was right and my detractors were wrong.
The older I get, and the more experience I gain, the more I want to see more than just anecdotal experience as a basis for slamming a company and their products.
This is/was your business. It has been a great success story. It would suck if the story ended up in the hands of lawyers.
If as an owner or administrator, you use an internet magazine to repeatedly say that Tom uses crap/junk/poor quality, and that only a few lucky ones won't fail, without sufficient evidence to back up the claims, that could be a risky financial proposition.
If you were one of my clients, I'd suggest you delete this entire thread. Even if you did, I am sure the entire thing has been printed out and is in front of a lawyer.

So, why not direct us to this evidence that there are mass failures?

WOL - when you broke that driveshaft on the ledge it was certainly because the wheel was wedged. I've watched quite a few vids of people climbing those type of ledges and I'm always surprised no one is calling STOP when the tire gets into a wedge like that.
Basically a "something's gonna break" situation. U-joint or gears. For that particular situation it's a "what" will break not an "if"!
Fun thread here.

I am just envisioning a legal proceeding that goes something like:
Wood: We have sold X Gold Seals per year for X years. We warranty our products. We have had warranty requests for X% for our Gold Seals for each quarter of the last X years as follows (shows graphs, charts, and spreadsheets). We have had X requests for returns or refunds, which represents X% of the Gold Seals sold for each of the X quarters, during each of the last X years. Our sales were X and our growth was X% for each of the quarters for each of the last X years. When the internet magazine project-JK/jk-forum administrator/owner began posting that our Gold Seals were (posts quoted here), our sales and growth were affected by X%. After sending letters, emails, etc., the posts were not removed or stopped. We seek $X for actual damages and $X for punitive damages for slander and false claims.
Oh, PJK, JKF, and Internet Brands: We did not slander. We were stating facts as evidenced by (data and experiences). We stated that Wood will not confirm the origin of manufacture. We suggested our readers/subscribers/members avoid Gold Seals because (data and experience). We believe the effect on sales was due to poor quality control and failures.
Even if Oh, PJK, JKF and IB prevails, it wouldn't be an enjoyable excercise.

If the "data and experiences" were posted here, beyond calling the joints "Chinese junk," the legal proceeding would be less likely to happen.
I know that you have not solicited my advice--or even my opinion. However, you know me well enough--at least from my posts and threads--that I don't hesitate to withhold criticism or give praise to vendors and manufacturers, I really do try to help people here, and I have no hesitation to admit an opinion I once had was wrong.
My posts in this thread are not about defending Tom. They aren't about criticizing you. I believe there is a "pothole in the road." Whether there is or isn't, you can choose to do whatever you want with it. That's the beauty of being an entrepreneur.

This will be mylast post on this topic because I don't really want to get involved in the conversation but there were several on other jeep forums that had recent dates. They were removed from my post.
