Sounds to me that some of you guys should be members of the Toyota Prius forums, not any kind of Jeep forum.I have driven mine with and without the sway bar connected, and I feel that it is probably is more dangerous to the potential Prius owners club members on here that talking on a cell phone while driving any lifted jk is more dangerous than the swaybar being connected or not. (I prefer driving on the street with my "asb" connected however.)Thse things are a "bit" squirrely when lifted IMO.

LOL

I'm reading this thread, and there's guys with off road road tires, lifts, and all sorts of other mods that raise the center of gravity, and could make it harder to control in an accident avoidance maneuver...and they're going on about if the sway bar is disconnected, how you could be sued.

I guess you people who know who you are read the paper sometimes, or watch the news, etc?

Big tired trucks with lifts are being blamed for carnage.....the people writing the stories do not know what a sway bar is, and the guy from the insurance company, when looking at the crach, will be hard pressed to say you swerved to avoid the spotted owl, and crashed into the creek killing a snail darter, because of your lift and MT's, cell phone conversation to your lawyer about your leaking roof, or because the sway bar, which the factory makes such that it can dissconnect and re-connect...was or was not disconnected as the CAUSE of the crash.

The story reads (To the Sierra Club and Prius Drivers, etc....) "SUV Flipped Over, driver with small penis trying to compensate by making his truck look bigger kills endangered species, pollutes earth with large carbon foot print, then leaks toxic petroleum hydrocarbons into pristine mountain stream"

Trust me...the sway bar being gone makes the jeep handle like an old caddilac, lots of lean, etc...it does NOT throw you at trees, etc.

If its made illegal to drive a vehical that requires post 60's handling capabilities at all times....there's a lot of iron that will be retired at that point as unsafe.

In short - don't dive into a cess pool and pick one turd to polish.

Most of the time it turns to arguing and making fun of.

If I didnt have electric disconnects I would probably not connect them either if I was going a short distance and not going over 60mph.

What Im saying is if you have them, why not use them. Dont let the excuse be that you are lazy. There are so many what ifs.

You would wear a helmet if you had one and were about to ride a motorcycle.
You would were a seatbelt if you were going to drive a distance.
You would wear a condom if well you know the rest....

All Im saying is if you have something that decreases bodily harm, why not use it and lessen you chances of something happening.

Do what ya like. I guess Im the only one that likes to prevent something from happening before it even happens.

For those mentioning modifcations. We are not talking about modifications. We are talking about a safety part designed to help you stay in control that is still conected to your vehicle that you are choosing not to use.

Cant we just get along and discuss.
I see both sides completely.

yeah i think it was the other guy who more pissed me off personally.....I was pointing out that those modifications(lifts, bigger tires, steel bumpers) are more dangerous than disconnected anti sway bars.....potentially. there are so many factors involved but i felt i was attacked for saying that it was ridiculous that he said i would kill someone because i leave my asb's disconnected.... There are sooooo many more things to worry about, on the road and off.

We all do unsafe things from time to time, i guess mine is leaving my asb's disconnected...

The modifications play a huge roll, because the conversation was all about safety....the heavily modded rigs are VERY unsafe on the road. They pose much bigger of a threat than disconnected sway bars. We dont attack them, so why attack those who leave swaybars disconnected? Why attack at all? to each his own.....idk, i didnt mean to argue with anyone all i was trying to say is ive been driving with swaybars disconnected for many miles with no problems at all, we can throw tons of what ifs in there.....but honestly, i dont live my life that way.

No ones attacking. Discussing.

Mods are something you do to your rid to perform better offroad. Swaybars are something you HAVE to perform better onroad. Since a vehicle already has swaybars, the lack of using them is completly different. I guess I dont see a correlation. If it was possible to hit a switch and the lift would come off and the tires would go back to 32s then you could compare. 10-20 hours of work to get a vehicle back to stock vs 15 minutes is really no comparision.

How hard/expensive is it to add the electric disconnets from a Rubi?

It's easy to add, just the cost would be a hiderance to most. They want $1300 CAN if you didn't get the option.
