Default Drop in MPGs

I have a 2102 JKU Rubi and everything was going great until recently. I have a bunch of mods on my Jeep including a dB Performance exhaust and a Banks CAI. With these mods I expected to get a little improvement in MPG, which I did. It jumped from 15.6 - 16.2 (mix of highway and city) to about 16.5 - 17.1 (these numbers are according to my stock on-board computer).

I am not one to really track my MPGs but about a month ago I looked and it was down to 13.6 MPGs. I reset it and let it go a while - checked it again - showed the same 13.6 MPGs. I haven't done any mods recently that would affect it like that.

I am in NY where the weather is getting cold but that shouldn't matter that much. Maybe I let the Jeep run for 2 - 5 minutes before I go. No longer than that though because I don't like to let any vehicle idle for too long.

Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on what it might be?

I've also noticed a decrease in MPG, and also remember seeing a post on here about stations using a different solution of gas or something, referred to as winter gas. I think thats what did it for me, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in too

It's probably the gasoline mix known as "winter blend". It's not as clean as the summer blend. I've noticed a drop in MPGs as well this month.

During the summer you may remember the govt giving a pass to refineries to release the winter blend when there was a gas crunch. They do this sometimes after a natural disaster as well.

Sometimes the winter blend gas will cause pinging too

That is the first I heard of "winter blend". It sounds like something the gov't would do though! Rat-bastards!!! But I had about a 3 MPG decrease. That seems like a drastic decrease! It can be that much just from the "winter blend" gas? Are there any additives you can add to make the "winter blend" gas more like the gas you get in the summer? I will have to search for that thread about the gas.

Has your station recently switched to 15% ethanol? Loose about 15% of mileage with ethanol. Or the crappy winter gas.

It's the government that says they can't sell winter blend all year 'round. Refineries would be glad to have the increased profit margin.

Looks like I will have to wait until summer and see if my MPGs go back to where they were.

The gov't screwing with our gas...WTF! MAN, we live in the best country in the world...but our gov't sucks balls! I say we replace all those greedy politicians with real people...like Jeepers! I read one time that there is only like 2,400+ politicians that run this country...we could replace them...we have more on this forum alone!!!
