Drop Pitman, Yea or Nay?
it doesn't matter if the trackbar bracket is on the frame or the axle. if you are changing the angle of the trackbar with a bracket, you need to also change the drag link angle by either pitman arm or drag link flip. i have heard of issues with bad aftermarket pitman arms....
i guess it wouldn't matter axel or frame mount.i just prefer the frame mount.and if it is a bad aftermarket pitman arm then it is not wearing out because it is a droped arm it is wearing out because it is a piece of crap
A drop pitman puts a lot of leverage on the steerbox and the sector shaft with big tire and offroading. They recommended a sector shaft brace if running a drop pitman. The other option is no drop pitman and to use the draglink on top of the knuckles kit and this helps with the leverage on the shaft. To be really safe you could always do both.
yeah, it really doesn't matter but like you, i prefer a mount on the frame as it is stronger to begin with and it can be braced to offer maximum strength and rigidity. as far as pitman arms go, trust me, i'm a guy who's on his 3rd one as the first two had bad splines resulting in a loose fit. but, as you mentioned, the other two were just a piece of crap and the one i have now works just fine. just because there were some bad pitman arms does not mean that they all are bad or that they all will be.
ok now you all have me thinking.
my set up is a frame mount track bar bracket with adjustable track bar and drop pitman.and btw i love my setup and i am not thinking of changing it but
would just the adjustable track bar without the relocation bracket and without the dropped pitman ride the same as my setup??
btw thanks now i have to add the shaft brace to my wish list

WOL, has this thread but I am at 4 inches and only run an adjustable track bar up front and adjustable front lower control arms. i voted no because as was mentioned before run a high steer to fix it.
a little off topic, but it's sounding to me like its recommended to run the track bar relocation bracket no matter if you have an adjustable or not, up front and in back, just to help brace it?
with a 4" lift or more, a reinforced track bar relocation bracket is something that you should have front and rear in addition to a adjustable track bars.
Interesting - wonder why the kit doesn't come with one. Guess I'll just have to get the drag link flip kit and take care of the front. The sound you're hearing now is the ringing of my phone to Joe @ TeraFlex. Visa is interupting this post to bring you the following announcement: you're cutoff Jack!
