Dumb Question : Bumpstops and Articulation
Something I can't quite grasp. You lift the JK X amount. Then you go put on bumpstop extensions that are X amount. Haven't you effectively negated the additional travel that you just added?
They say to add whatever amount of bumpstop extension as lift you just added so... is the lift then just for looks, and for clearance, if you add longer shocks (which from material I gathered on here, is what really gives you more travel, then you add bumpstops, don't they cancel out.
Color me confused.

bump stop extensions are primarily designed to help prevent the over compression of your coils. added benefits is that they help prevent things like fender rub as well especially being that a taller lift usually comes with bigger tires. in terms of articulation, your taller lift will also come with longer shocks and they will allow for a greater amount of droop. bump stop extensions will not cancel this out.
Take for example the teraflex 3" kit, which gives a bit over 4" actual but includes a 3" bumpstops extension.
