Duratrac/Procomp
You are confusing side wall ply rating v's tread ply, the goodyear duratracs are D load rated which means they have 8 ply tread, and they have a 2 ply side wall. BFG's in D generally have 3 ply side wall and 8 ply tread as well, however all E Load rated tyres have 3 ply side wall and 10 ply tread.
Depends on your driving habits. Assuming you're looking for and AT and not an MT, also checkout the BFG. They will give you more mileage than the Duratrac and have a thicker sidewall.
If you plan on doing any heavy/hard wheeling, I'd recommend considering an MT. They tend to have stronger a stronger sidewall and wont puncture as easily. For example, the duratrac has 2 ply sidewall. BFG AT has 3 ply. Goodyear MTR w/ kevlar has 10 ply.
Plus MT are usually better for wheeling, but won't handle as nicely on pavement, and you usually don't get as much mileage out of them.

Everyone is also missing a very important detail about the Xterrains. They are a DIRECTIONAL tire so you are unable to do a full tire roation and you will have to make a decision on what to carry as a spare.
Now with that said...the Xterrains will blow the doors off the Duratracs off-road. I have several guys in my club that run the xterrains...one in 37's and a couple in 35's and they go everywhere with ease. I also have guys in my club that run the Duratracs and they are good but cannot compare to the Xterrains off road. The Xterrain is kind of a cross between a m/T and A/t but it really acts more like a m/t off road. I'm pretty sure that the directional tread also makes it better off-road (and suppsoedly on-road as well). Just the limiting tire raotaion issue turns most people away since the tires won;t last as long.
I know a ton of people run Duratracs and will chime in that their tire is better but uinless they have seen both in action on similar rigs on the same trail....well..I have and we were not winching the Xterrain Jeeps.

Louder than duratracs but quieter than any mud terrain I've heard like km2's and MTR's. the nitto trail grapplers and toyos are about the same. I used to run maxxis bighorns which were very loud so my toyos sound like street tires.
If you live where you get tons of snow and do mostly street driving, the duratracs are a great choice. But OffRoad, they are not as capable as the xterrains or even the GY MTR.
My issue with them is the directional tread. When I was moving from my bighorns to a new tire I really wanted the maxxis trepadors but they are also directional tread and I was looking for a tire that will last longer.
