Default E-locker Question / Consideration

Hi all, I have a 2010 JK Sport with a stock 44 Dana in the back and stock 30 up front. Its my daily driver and will be moving up to some new 295/70r17s before long over the stock 255s. I'm not planning on re-gearing as I will not go any bigger on this rig (have another for that . Question: I'm considering installing a e-locker of some type up front since the rear has the dana 44. I've taken it off road just a couple times as it's an auto (and my daughter cannot drive a 5 spd - yet anyway...) gets her drivers license next month - but we'll work on that in my YJ.

I live in central illinois and since the snow can be bad at times, I didn't want to go with a manual locker such as a aussi. That way I can utilize the locker only when needed on occaision when we had to the trails a couple times a year in it.

I Know Auburn makes one - ECTED and Eaton makes one as well. For the trail riding we do in my daily driver, I prob really don't need one, but would be nice to have a little piece of mind.

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated along with how much work is involved in the install.

Thanks all -
Truly appreciate any input, concerns and warnings....

All of the full case units will take as much work as installing gears. If you are not up to doing the gears yourself, start talking to a few shops.

This is a decent locker overview. (the d44 eaton has been upgraded to 4-pin since this was written)

Since you don't really need thousand dollar selectables, read through a few threads on the Detroit TrueTrac.

Auburn locker is actually a clutch pack and therefore will wear out. The eaton locker is a real locker and a much better product.

This is the exact set up I have on my 2010. The only issue I have had is with the front Eaton e-locker wire connection. The water proof connector Eaton uses does not make a good connection and the locker will not engage. I have been fighting this for awhile. Now with the TruTrac in the rear, I love it. It engages well and works great with the ESP. Just note they recommend NOT using a synthetic oil in it.
